Lakeview Horse Rescue is located at The Riding Center in Freeburg, Illinois, a family-owned equestrian facility with more than 50 years of history in horsemanship, training, and education.

Under the leadership of Rodger Davis, Lakeview brings together decades of experience with a commitment to improving the lives of horses. Rodger's lifelong dedication to horsemanship and his understanding of the relationship between horse and rider provide a strong foundation for the rescue's future.

Originally founded by Sarah Sanders, Lakeview grew from her lifelong love of horses and passion for helping those in need. A certified trainer and creator of the Ride With Excellence program, Sarah's work focused on understanding horses and developing stronger partnerships between horses and riders. Her dedication to horsemanship ultimately inspired her to establish Lakeview Horse Rescue.

Today, that original passion continues through a commitment to compassionate care, rehabilitation, and responsible horsemanship. At Lakeview, we believe that helping a horse means more than providing a safe place to land. Through patient handling, consistent care, and thoughtful training, we work to build trust, develop confidence, and prepare each horse for a successful future.

Every horse that comes to Lakeview has a unique history, personality, and set of needs. Some may need time to regain their health and confidence, while others benefit from additional training and guidance to prepare them for their next chapter.

Our approach is grounded in good horsemanship and a commitment to doing what is best for each individual horse. Through proper care, patient handling, and thoughtful training, we focus on building a foundation of trust, confidence, and understanding.

Finding the right home is just as important as preparing the horse. We believe successful, lasting partnerships are built through education, responsible ownership, and a thoughtful match between horse and human.
